WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference ranks high in NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) data, posting a rate of 990 according to the latest NCAA data, which was released publicly on Tuesday. The 990 represents an increase of five points over 2022-23 and equals the highest rate the A-10 has had since 2018.
The 990 rate also places the Atlantic 10 tied for third among all 32 Division I Conferences. The league also had 81 individual programs earn public recognition with rates of 995 or better, and 48 programs recorded a perfect rate of 1,000. The league’s full data also ranks the A-10 tied for third in eligibility trends and fourth overall in retention trends.
The NCAA Academic Progress Rate measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance of each team in every sport. The most recent APRs, released Tuesday, are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2019 -20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.
Women’s soccer had the most teams above the national average, with 11 teams topping the mean of 993. Men’s basketball in the A-10 had 10 teams over the national average of 971, as did men’s cross country (national average of 992). Women’s basketball (985) and women’s track and field (977) each had nine teams top the national mean.
Davidson and Rhode Island recorded the highest number of teams that posted perfect multi-year APR scores with six each. Dayton and George Washington each had five teams post perfect scores and Richmond and Saint Joseph’s each had four. In total, the 48 teams with perfect scores represents 20.7 percent of all A-10 teams, an increase of two points over 2022-23.
Women’s cross country had the highest number of perfect teams with seven, followed by men’s cross country with six, and women’s tennis and with five. Women’s track and field and men’s tennis each had four perfect teams.
