TYSONS, Va, -- Saint Joseph’s leaned on a complete-game effort from Cole Fehrman and a late offensive surge to roll past George Mason, 14-4, Friday evening at Capital One Park in the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship. SJU advacned to the consolation final with the win.
Fehrman set the tone for the Hawks from the outset, working all nine innings while navigating traffic throughout the night to keep Saint Joseph’s firmly in control. The right-hander scattered eight hits, allowed four runs and struck out seven on 103 pitches, earning his fifth victory of the season.
After the Patriots scored in the second inning on Evan Blanchard’s RBI bunt single, Fehrman stranded two runners to limit the damage. George Mason added another run in the third on Luciano Terilli’s RBI single, but Fehrman settled in through the middle innings and repeatedly worked out of trouble.
The Patriots cut the deficit to 6-4 in the sixth when Terilli launched a solo homer to center field, but Fehrman responded by retiring seven of the next eight hitters and did not allow another earned run the rest of the night.
That stability on the mound allowed Saint Joseph’s offense to break the game open.

Joey Gale singled to extend the frame, Alex Kelsey followed with a two-run homer to deep right field, and Richard Beggy crushed another two-run shot to left just moments later as Saint Joseph’s suddenly stretched the lead to 10-4.
The Hawks added four more runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by Gale’s two-run single and RBI walks from Joey Pagano and Janesko.
Saint Joseph’s (38-20) finished with 13 hits and drew 11 walks while continuing the balanced offensive approach that carried the Hawks to the conference’s top record.
