WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph’s sophomore Blake Primrose was voted the Atlantic 10 Baseball Player of the Year while Richmond sophomore Joey Giordano was selected as the A-10 Pitcher of the Year. The league announced the major awards on Tuesday, along with Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, and the All-Conference, All-Rookie, and All-Academic Teams.

Rhode Island junior Reece Moroney was selected as the A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Richmond freshman Evan Wilson was named the A-10 Rookie of the Year and Saint Joseph’s skipper Fritz Hamburg claimed the A-10 Coach of the Year award. The major honors, All-Conference teams and All-Rookie team were voted on by the A-10 baseball head coaches while the All-Academic team was selected by the baseball communications directors.

Primrose led the A-10 with a .398 batting average, recording a .508 on-base percentage and .883 slugging percentage. The catcher from Pittsburgh hit a league-best 24 home runs, driving in 72 RBI and totaling 44 -extra-base hits. Primrose ranks third nationally in runs scored (75), eighth in home runs, and ninth in RBI. He was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s National Hitter of the Month for April and a finalist for the Buster Posey Award.

Giordano has dominated opponents the entire season, boasting an 11-0 record on the mound in 73.0 innings of action. The left-hander from Montvale, N.J. leads the Spiders with a 3.08 ERA, posting a 1.16 WHIP. Giordano has struck out 62 batters, holding opponents to a .228 batting average. He was named a semifinalist for the 2026 Dick Howser Trophy, presented annually to the top player in college baseball.

Wilson stepped up as an immediate contributor for the Spiders in his rookie campaign, producing a .343/.477/.636 slash line. The Lancaster, Pa. native amassed 48 hits, 36 RBIs, nine home runs, and eight stolen bases across 48 games, earning four A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades. Wilson put together his strongest performance in a 16-6 victory over Dayton on Apr. 18, recording four hits including a pair of home runs.

Moroney anchored the Rams defensively, serving as Rhode Island’s consistent shortstop. The Fairhaven, N.J. native recorded a .963 fielding percentage, tallying a team-best 124 assists. Moroney fielded 27 double plays, ranking seventh in the conference.

Hamburg led Saint Joseph’s to the program’s second-ever Atlantic 10 regular season title in 2026 – and second of the last four years – to secure the No. 1 seed ahead of this week’s Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship. The Hawks finished the regular season with a record of 35-18, tied for the most wins in program history, and posted a 25-5 record in conference play. Hamburg collected his third A-10 Coach of the Year award in the process after receiving the recognition in 2014 and 2023.

The 2026 A-10 Baseball Championship begins on Wednesday, May 20 at 11 a.m. ET. The six-team, double-elimination tournament will take place at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.
