DAVIDSON, N.C. – Brooke Ross netted a shot into the left side of the goal with 4.7 seconds remaining in regulation, lifting No. 4 seed Davidson to an 11-10 victory over top-seeded Richmond in the semifinal round of the 2026 Betterment Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

Davidson showed no fear against the championship’s top seed, scoring the game’s first three goals. Richmond fought right back, though, scoring three consecutive goals to tie the game 3-3 early in the second quarter. Ross capitalized on a man-up opportunity, putting the Wildcats back in front with a well-placed shot before junior Jenna Skibbe added another goal with 37 seconds remaining in the half. Davidson senior Jacqueline Callahan assisted both of those goals, sending the Wildcats to the break with a 5-3 lead.

Skibbe scored quickly in the third period to secure a hat trick, but three consecutive Richmond goals caught the Spiders back up. Ross gave Davidson an advantage with one minute left in the quarter, but Richmond senior Julian Stanley recorded her third goal of the day just 27 seconds later – tying the game 7-7 with one quarter left to play.

The back-and-forth battle continued. Hartnett scored within the first minute of the final period, but Richmond’s Rileigh Meyer answered back moments later. Ross netted another to push Davidson ahead 9-8 before Richmond’s Stella Axe evened the match after a few minutes. Davidson senior Devyn Martinez and Richmond redshirt sophomore Bridget Lonsinger traded scores, setting the scene for a final minute game-winner.

Coming out of a Davidson timeout, Ross caught a pass from Aeryn Curren and drained the ensuing shot with under five seconds remaining. The Wildcats earned the ensuing draw control, clinching Davidson’s first-ever appearance in the title game.

Ross led the Wildcats with four goals, while Stanley paced the Spiders with three. Richmond goalie Abby Francioli made 10 saves and Davidson netminder Kayla Joyce made eight.

The Wildcats advance to Sunday’s championship final slated for 12 p.m. ET, facing the winner of Friday’s  second semifinal match between VCU and St. Bonaventure.
