WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 selected Richmond senior Alexis Morton as its Under Armour Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and St. Bonaventure senior Brit Colangelo as the Defensive Player of the Week. Davidson freshman Margit Crittenberger earned Rookie of the Week honors. The league announced the awards on Monday for games played from April 20 – April 26.
Morton helped Richmond clinch the A-10 regular season title over the weekend, leading the team to a 21-6 win over Duquesne. The attacker from Manhasset, N.Y. led the Spiders with 10 points, scoring six goals and dishing out four assists. Morton also collected two ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Colangelo anchored St. Bonaventure’s back line in a dominant performance against George Washington, helping the Bonnies close the regular season with a 15-4 victory. The defender from Scarborough, Ontario paced the team with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, picking up her second defensive weekly accolade of the year.
Crittenberger scored her first career goal on Saturday, finding the back of the net in Davidson’s 20-3 win against La Salle. The defender from McLean, Va. also recorded three caused turnovers and a ground ball during the Wildcats’ win.
