WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph’s junior Jaxon Dillon was named the Atlantic 10 Under Armour Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while Delaware freshman Scott Conte was selected as Defensive Player of the Week honors. Massachusetts freshman Thomas Bagnall earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced on Tuesday for games played from April 13-19.
Dillon tied a school single-game record with six goals at Delaware on Saturday. He also had two ground balls and a caused turnover. An attacker from Victoria, British Columbia, he placed nine of his 10 shots on net for a .600 shot percentage and .900 shots on goal percentage. Dillon recorded a natural hat trick with three straight goals between the second and third quarters. His six goals Saturday represent the most goals by an Atlantic 10 player in a single game this season.
Conte, a faceoff specialist from Wayne, N.J., won 26 faceoffs, the most in a single game in the country this season and tied for the third most in program history, as Delaware bested St. Bonaventure. The Wayne, N.J. native's 26 faceoff wins are the most in the nation in a single game by a freshman since 2020. The rookie also had a career-best 17 ground balls, which is tied for seventh most in a game in program history, and he added an assist for his first-career point.
Bagnall, a midfielder from Oakville, Ontario, scored a team-best five goals in a two-overtime thriller at Hobart, including the game-winner. His five goals came on six shots, and he also had three ground balls and a caused turnover. His five tallies marked a new season high, and two of his goals came during UMass' big second half run that saw the squad come all the way back from a seven-goal deficit to force overtime.
