WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 selected Davidson junior Jenna Skibbe as its Under Armour Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and Duquesne senior Chelsea Evans as the Defensive Player of the Week. St. Bonaventure freshman Gracie Williams earned Rookie of the Week honors. The league announced the awards on Monday for games played from April 6 – April 12.
Skibbe excelled offensively for the Wildcats, leading Davidson to a 13-11 league victory over Saint Joseph’s. The attacker from Lake Mary, Fla. scored five goals – including the final goal to cement the win. Davidson improved to 11-3 with the result, 5-2 in the A-10.
Evans anchored the Dukes’ defensive line across a pair of games last week, stifling disrupting opposing offenses with several key takeaways. The midfielder from Marlton, N.J. caused five turnovers to help lead Duquesne to its first conference win, 10-8 over La Salle. She finished the week with seven caused turnovers and five ground balls, while also scoring four total goals as well.
Williams put together one of the strongest offensive performances of her freshman campaign, tallying four points in St. Bonaventure’s 16-8 win over George Mason. The attacker from Cattaraugus, N.Y. scored three goals – fueled by a momentous first quarter – and added one assist.
