HAMPTON, Va. – Putting together another dominant showing, the George Washington Men’s Swimming and Diving team captured its sixth consecutive Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. The Revolutionaries, who have won nine of the last 10 championships, collected the title with 784.83 points.
George Mason earned runner-up honors with 585.67 points, while St. Bonaventure claimed bronze with 506.50. points. La Salle placed fourth with 437 points followed by Davidson (420), Saint Louis (325), and Fordham (286).
La Salle’s Felix Jedbratt was named Most Outstanding Swimming Performer of the Year, breaking A-10 records in the 200-yard butterfly (1:41.72) and the 50-yard freestyle (19.18) while also winning the 100-yard butterfly (45.02). La Salle head coach Kerry Smith earned Most Outstanding Swimming Coach of the Year accolades.
Fordham’s David Vargas and his coach Zhihua Hu were named the Most Outstanding Diving Performer and the Diving Coach of the Year, respectively. Vargas won the 1-meter (354.15) and 3-meter (341.55) diving crowns at the championship.
George Washington freshman Andres Brooks earned the Most Outstanding Rookie of the Year award after winning the 400-yard individual medley (3:47.60) and earning silver medals in the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.34) and 200-yard individual medley (1:47.52).
After La Salle jumped out to an early advantage with 94 points on the first day of competition, George Washington moved into first place with a commanding second day. The Revolutionaries led by more than 100 points after the third day, closing out the title on Saturday.
- Davidson freshman Henry Shoemaker won the 1650-yard freestyle in 15:09.61, while George Washington’s Daniel Choi placed second in 15:10.07. Fordham’s Quinn Macphail earned bronze in 15:22.75.
- George Washington’s Shae Stratton won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:43.53.George Mason’s Ian Rodgers placed second in 1:43.66 and La Salle’s Tarik Gusic was third in 1:43.76.
- La Salle’s Carter Perkins won the 100-yard freestyle in 42.37, advancing to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in the process. George Mason’s Tate Anderson placed second in 42.79 and George Washington’s AJ Wood finished third in 43.62.
- George Washington swept the podium in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Benjamin Sosnowski picking up the victory with a time of 1:57.02. Revolutionaries sophomore Alessandro Borsato placed second in 1:57.33 and Preston Lin earned third in 1:57.82.
- As Jedbratt set the A-10 record in the 200-yard butterfly, Brooks took silver in 1:44.24. St. Bonaventure sophomore Mark Mizsei took bronze in 1:44.33.
- George Washington’s team of Daniel Nagy, Matija Radjenovic, AJ Wood, and Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan won the 400-yard freesyle relay in 2:53.72, while George Mason (2:53.98), and La Salle (2:54.68) placed second and third, respectively.
The NCAA Division I Championship is set for March 18-21, 2026 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. Student-athletes who won their event and finished with an automatic qualifying time earn a spot in the NCAA Championship.
