Richmond Women's, George Washington Men's Lead Through Day Two of A-10 Swimming and Diving Championship

HAMPTON, Va – The Richmond women’s team maintained its lead in first place, while the George Washington men's squad moved into the top spot after the second day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.  

Richmond holds its first-place lead with 242 points behind gold medals in the women’s 200-yard freestyle relay and two podium finishes in the 200-yard individual medley. George Washington sits in second place with 214 points and Duquesne in third with 189 points. La Salle (174), Fordham (168), St. Bonaventure (129), Davidson (87), George Mason (84), Rhode Island (83) and Saint Louis (54) round out the women’s standings.  

On the men’s side, George Washington slid into first with 270 points. George Mason sits in second with 199 and St. Bonaventure is in third with 186 points. La Salle (175), Davidson (161), Fordham (139) and Saint Louis (108) conclude the men’s standings.  

Two records were broken in the men’s 50-yard freestyle and women’s 200-yard freestyle. La Salle’s Felix Jedbratt broke the A-10's 50-free and clinched an automatic qualifier for the event. The Spiders broke the A-10 record in the 200-free by Presley Baber, Julia Kirchev, Caitlyn Hughes and Hannah Wieczorek.  

  • Dhavgely Mendoza of St. Bonaventure earned gold in the women’s three-meter dive with 315.60 points. Olivia Paquette of GW claimed silver with 296.75 and Olivia Winslow of Rhode Island collected bronze with 271.35 points.  

  • Duquesne’s Sierra Snow clinched gold in the women’s 500-yard freestyle in 4:45.77. Ava Topoloewski of GW placed second in the 4:45.78 and her freshman teammate Talya Erdogan earned third in 4:49.80. 

  • Dylan Felt of Davidson defended his men’s 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:19.28. Heitor Napolitano Fonseca Reis of GW finished second in 4:22.30 and Davidson’s Henry Shoemaker placed third in 4:23.189.  

  • Gabriela Herbreder of LAS won the women’s 200-yard individual medley in 1:58.75. Richmond’s Lena Amare placed second in 1:59.50 with her teammate Gabbi Primiano earning bronze in 2:00.55. 

  • Tate Anderson of GM captured gold in the men’s 200-yard IM with a time of 1:44.78. He was followed in second by Andres Brooks of GW (1:45.92) and Matija Radjenvoic finished third in 1:46.94. 

  • La Salle’s Victoria Fenn clinched first in the women’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of :22.64. Joselle Mensah of GW placed second in :22.85 and Baber collected bronze in :22.89.  

  • Jedbratt broke the A-10 record and clinched an automatic qualifier in his victory in the men’s 50-yard freestyle. Jedbratt set the new time with :19.18, clinching an AQ in the NCAA Championship. Holden Thomas of GW earned silver in :19.50 and La Salle’s Carter Perkins placed third in :19.67.  

  • The Spiders women’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Baber, Julia Kirchev, Caitlyn Hughes and Hannah Wieczorek broke the A-10 record and won gold in 1:30.40. La Salle’s Emma Van Selm, Herbreder, Maren Schermerhorn and Victoria Fen earned silver in 1:30.65. Duquesne placed third in 1:31.46 behind Kaitlyn Connors, Jess Burns, Rae Howard and Lucy Backus.  
    La Salle’s men’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jedbratt, Austin Wakefield, Tarik Gusic and Perkins claimed gold in 1:18.29. GW finished second in 1:18.35 behind Holden Thomas, Daniel Nagy, Ganesh Sivaramahnan and AJ Wood. GM’s Anderson, Ian Rodgers, Aoun Al-Hiari and Gabe Miller finished third in 1:18.51.  

The third day of the A-10 Swimming and Diving Championship begins with the preliminiary round at 10 a.m. and the final rounds kick off at 6 p.m.
