HAMPTON, VA -- The La Salle men’s and Richmond women’s lead after the first day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championship at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.
The Explorers totaled 94 points behind a third-place finish in the men’s 200-yard medley relay. Carter Randall, Lucas Smith, Bryce Peterson and Liam Cahill collected points in the men’s one-meter dive. St. Bonaventure sits in second with 90 points, followed by George Mason (89), George Washington (82), Fordham (79), Saint Louis (65) and Davidson (60).
On the women’s side, Richmond sits in first after earning gold in the 200-yard medley relay and silver in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The Spiders have 74 points followed by Duquesne (68), La Salle (66), St. Bonaventure (58), GW (56), Fordham (56), George Mason (46), Rhode Island (40), Davidson (36) and Saint Louis (36).

The Spiders captured first in the 200-yard medley relay behind Hannah Weiczorek, Presley Baber, Lena Amare and Julia Krichev. The Spiders finished with a time of 1:38.71. La Salle’s Gabriela Herbreder, Carlota Quero Ungo, Camilla Frost and Victoria Fenn placed second in 1:39.38. Fordham’s Ella Montgomery, Lexi Lundell, Karina Kanary and Saskia Aikman earned bronze in 1:39.86.

George Washington defended its 200-yard medley relay title behind Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan, Alessandro Borsato, Daniel Nagy and AJ Wood in 1:25.84. GM placed second in 1:26.10 by Ian Rodgers, Jack Chapman, Aoun Al-Hiari and Augustin Rasche. The Explorers finished third in 1:26.17 behind Tarik Gusic, Carter Perkins, Felix Jedbratt and Austin Wakefield.

Duquesne clinched first in the 800-yard freestyle relay by Sierra Snow, Lexi Sundgren, Kaitlyn Connors and Ashley Freel and finished in 7:16.52. Richmond’s Erin Budde, Caitlyn Hughes, Gabbie Primiano and Amare placed second in 7:17.80. La Salle collected bronze in 7:20.52 behind Gabriela Herbreder, Rosalia Martin Martinez and Felicia Rogell.

GM’s Tate Anderson, Alex Crown, Cody Scifres and Ryan Serbia broke the A-10 men’s 800-yard medley relay time in 6:23.83, set by the Patriots last year. Davidson earned silver in 6:29.55 behind Matthew Shnowske, Mitch McClain, Fletcher Smith and Dylan Felt. Saint Louis earned silver in 6:35.03 by Logan Townsend, Kyle Algrim, Tyler Williams and Daniel Jekov.
Day 2 begins on Thursday with the preliminary rounds beginning at 10 a.m. The final rounds begin at 6 p.m. including the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, women’s three-meter diving and 200-yard freestyle relay.
