HOPEWELL, N.J. — Three Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball coaches have landed on the midseason watchlist for the 2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award, announced by Her Hoop State on Wednesday morning.
The A-10 is the only conference with three coaches on the 10-person watchlist. The group includes Davidson head coach Gayle Fulks, Rhode Island’s Tammi Reiss, and Richmond’s Aaron Roussell.
Fulks has led Davidson to a 15-7 overall record, standing 7-2 in league play. The Wildcats have competed amongst some of the best teams in the nation, nearly upsetting No. 14 Baylor in a 74-72 neutral-site overtime loss. Across the last three seasons of Fulks’ time with Davidson, the team has won 52 games while collecting just 29 losses.
Reiss has her Rhode Island squad rolling this year. The Rams own the best record in the A-10, 18-2 overall and 9-0 in league play. Reiss’ squad has won 12 consecutive games – the sixth longest active winning streak in Division I women’s basketball at the moment. Rhode Island has continued to inch its way closer to the AP Top-25, receiving 16 votes in the latest poll.
After receiving the 2025 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award, Roussell has landed on the midseason watch list once again thanks to another strong campaign with the Spiders. Starting the season ranked in the AP Poll for the first time in program history, Richmond has amassed a 16-4 (6-1 A-10) record and currently own a five-game win streak.
The five semifinalists will be announced in March, followed by the winner revealed around the Final Four.
