WASHINGTON — The Atlantic 10 Conference named Saint Joseph’s sophomore Santiago Valle as its Under Armour Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and Saint Joseph’s freshman Damir Abdusamadov as its Rookie of the Week. Davidson senior Savanna Kollock was named Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and Davidson freshman Keri Rothenberg was named Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced on Wednesday for matches played from Jan. 19 to Jan. 25.
Valle led Davidson to a 4-2 victory over CAA opponent Drexel on Saturday, the Hawks’ second win of the season. A San Luis Potosi, Mexico native, Valle teamed up with Abdusamadov for a 7-6 win at the No. 2 doubles position to clinch the doubles point for St. Joe’s. Valle kept the strong performance going, defeating Drexel’s Josue Guzman 7-6, 7-6 in straight sets at the No. 2 singles position.
Abdusamadov continued his stellar collegiate start, going 2-0 in his matches against Drexel. After earning a doubles victory alongside Valle, the Tashkent, Uzbekistan native played a back-and-forth battle against Drexel’s Lun Obrul on Court 3. Abdusamadov gutted out a 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 triumph, clinching the match for Saint Joseph’s in the process, 4-2.
Kollock started the 2026 spring season off with impressive singles and doubles victories, helping Davidson earn a 7-0 win over crouss-county foe Queens. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native teamed with Bryson Langford at the top spot to blank Zoe Cvitanovic and Mathilde Bris, 6-0. She followed with a 6-3, 6-0 straight set win over Bris at the No. 1 singles position.
Rothenberg put together an impressive collegiate dual debut, finishing with shutout victories in both singles and doubles competition. After teaming with Olivia Hooper to win 6-0 on Court 3, the Wilmette, Ill. native didn’t drop a game against Queens’ Daniela Tomala with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 spot.
