WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Kellen Thames the Under Armour Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Davidson freshman Devin Brown was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played January 12-18.
Thames averaged a team-leading 16.0 ppg and led SLU in scoring in both games last week, making a big impact in his playing time as he averaged 18.1 mpg off the bench. A guard from St. Louis, he shot 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the floor for the week, maintaining his high field goal percentage, which is at 72.2 percent for the season. Thames led the Bills with 16 points in the win against Fordham. He followed that with a game-high 16 points versus Richmond, topping the SLU scoring chart for the third time in the last four games.
Brown scored a career high 17 points on .625 (5-for-8) shooting from the field. The guard from Lewis Center, Ohio added, three assists and three rebounds with a block in Davidson’s lone game this week, a road win at George Washington.
