WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Rhode Island sophomore Luke Stennett and Dayton freshman T.J. Kreusch as its Men’s Golfer and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Richmond junior Maya Beasley and her freshman teammate Addie Doroh were tabbed as Women’s Golfer and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced on Tuesday for the first competitions of the season.
Stennett won the Sacred Heart Fall Classic, leading the Rams to the team title as well. Stennett, a Portland, Conn. native, was 6-under par for the three-round tournament. He topped the 80-player field for his second career individual title. Stennett carded 10 birdies and two eagles over the course of 54 holes. After shooting a 3-under 69 in the first round, he fired a 5-under 67 in the second round.
Kreusch opened his collegiate career with a 12th-place finish at Marshall's annual Joe Feaganes Invitational. He fired off the team's low round of the tournament on the first 18, a five-under-par 66. Kreusch, a Kettering, OH native, shot a 66-71-73 over the three-round tournament. He finished three under par.
Beasley, a Pinehurst, NC native, won her first career individual title at the Tribe Invitational/Kingsmill. She shot 74-70-73 to win the individual crown and help the Spiders win the tournament. Richmond's 31-shot margin of victory over runner-up Marshall was the Spiders biggest win in program history.
Doroh placed fifth at the Tribe Invitational/Kingsmill and contributed to Richmond’s tournament victory. The Charlottesville, VA native shot 77-76-72 over the three-round tournament. In her collegiate debut, Doroh finished in the top five out of 30 participants.
