PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- No. 1 Richmond took a two goal halftime lead and pushed it to eight before pushing to a 16-10 final to win the 2025 Atlantic 10 Men's Lacrosse Championship, their second in three years.
The Spiders will earn the A-10's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, which will be announced tomorrow evening, Sunday, May 4 at 9:00 p.m.
Richmond outshot High Point 42-23 and forced 20 Panthers turnovers en route to the victory. The Championship Most Outstanding Player Joe Sheridan led the Spiders with three goals, while his teammate and All-Championship team honroee Daniel Picart also had three goals and added an assist. Hunter Smith (three caused turnovers), Aidan O'Neil (two goals, two assists), Tommy Stull (four groundballs, three caused turnovers) and Mitchell Dunham (three groundballs, three caused turnovers) also earned All-Championship team honors.
High Point took a 2-0 lead in the game off goals from Ryan Hynes and Jeb Brenfleck. Richmond quickly answered with a 6-1 run to command a 6-3 lead before leading 7-5 at halftime. Justin Wixted and Hynes cut it to one twice to start the third quarter but five-straight Spider goals, including two from Pikart pushed the Spiders ahead with a distant 13-7 lead that would turn into 16-8.
All-Championship Team selection Luca Accardo won 18-of-30 face-offs for High Point while another honoree Zack Overend made 11 saves in goal.
This mark's Richmond's second Atlantic 10 Championship in three seasons and sixth NCAA Tournament appearance. The Spiders have won eight games in a row, went a perfect 7-0 against A-10 competition and stand at 13-3 on the season.
High Point ends their season at 7-9.
