TYSONS, Va. -- Rhode Island’s Nic Notarangelo hit a two-run homer in the eighth to break a two-all tie and the Rams added four insurance runs in the ninth to top Saint Louis, 8-2 in the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship semifinals Friday at Capital One Park.

Rhody (37-20) will play for an A-10 title Saturday against either SLU or George Mason, who are facing off in the consolation bracket final. The championship final will be played at noon with an NCAA Regional bid on the line.

Notarangelo’s shot scored DJ Perron, who reached on a one-out single. Perron hit a two-run home run himself in the fourth inning to drive in jack Hopko and open the scoring for either team.

Back-to-back blasts in the top of the ninth, a two-run shot by Eric Genther and a Reece Moroney solo shot provided three of the insurance runs for the Rams, with Brody McKenzie scoring on Genther’s round-tripper. Hopko crossed the plate again on a sacrifice fly by Penney.

Parker Aikens got the win for Rhody, throwing 1.1 innings with no hits, no runs. Richie Cimpric (1-2) was charged with the loss with 5.0 innings of work, three runs allowed on four hits and three walks.

SLU  (33-25) scored twice in the fifth to tie the game after Perron’s early homer. Sanchez doubled down the left field line to score Sitzman, and then Moore singled to center, scoring Sanchez.

Anthony DePino went 3-for-4 to pace the Rams at the plate while Austin Neuweg was 2-for-4 to lead the Billikens. Genther, Perron and Notarangelo each had a pair of RBI.
