TYSONS, Va. – Trystan Levesque pitched a gem and Anthony DePino hit a grand slam to drive top-seeded Rhode Island into the Atlantic 10 baseball semifinals with a 5-3 win over No. 4 Davidson, 5-3 Wednesday at Capital One Park.

The regular season champion Rams (36-20) will face the No. 2 George Mason / No. 3 Saint Louis winner in Friday’s semifinals. Davidson (26-28) drops into the consolation bracket and will play Thursday at 3:00 pm.

Levesque (8-1) threw 8.1 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run with an impressive 10 strike outs. Joe Sabbath picked up his seventh save, closing out the game with two outs and no hits.

Davidson scored in the first and third to take a 3-0 lead, but a Nic Notarangelo single up the middle scored Jack Hopko in the fourth for Rhode Island. DePino then flipped the game with his bases-loaded blast to left center, scoring Notarangelo, Nicholas Toro and Brody McKenzie on the grand slam. DePino was 3-for-4 with the four RBI to lead all batters.

Both pitchers locked down from that point, allowing just three hits in the final five frames. Isaac Fix took the loss on 5.2 innings with five runs on five hits, five walkouts and five strikeouts. Simon Yochum closed out the Davidson side with 2.1 innings pitched and just one hit and three strikeouts.
