RICHMOND, Va. – Fourth-seeded Richmond women’s lacrosse rallied from a three-goal first-half deficit to win a low-scoring affair, 11-8 over No. 5 St. Bonaventure in the opening round of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Championship at Robins Stadium.

Grace Muldoon and Colleen Quinn combined to score eight of the Spiders’ 11 goals, tallying four each to spark the rally. But it was Whitney Liebler who was the hero, breaking an eight-all tie with what proved to be the game-winner with three minutes left. Liebler cut across the crease and found herself open for a hip-high shot past Bonnies’ goalie Kateylyn Hicks.

Richmond (11-7) advances to the semifinals to face No. 1 Massachusetts at noon on Friday. The Minutewomen and Spiders last met in the A-10 Championship in last year’s final, and between them have combined for 17 of the last 19 A-10 titles.
Hicks turned in a sparking performance, making 12 saves and allowing just one goal in a woman-up situation. She kept the Spiders scoreless in the first quarter and allowed just two goals in the first half.

St. Bonaventure (10-8) scored three early goals, two from Sidney Van Tassel for a 3-0 lead at the end of the first. After Quinn and Muldoon each scored their first, Brooke Piper put the brown and white back up 4-2 at halftime.

The Spiders flipped the tables in the third, scoring four, two each from Muldoon and Quinn, to tie the game for the first time at six at the end of the third. From there the teams traded goals until Liebler’s heroics.

Piper and Van Tassel each had three goals to lead the Bonnies. SBU’s only assist in the game came from Fiona McGovern. Richmond’s Alexi Morton had two of the Spiders’ four assists. Abby Francioli made 11 saves against eight goals for the Spiders, turning in a performance on par with Hicks.

Quinn and Bridget Lonsinger added a couple of late insurance tallies to secure the win.
