No. 2 High Point Dominates Face-Off, Tops No. 3 Saint Joseph's to Reach #A10MLAX Title Game

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The No. 2 High Point Panthers won 22-of-27 face-offs and never trailed in the game, topping No. 3 Saint Joseph's, 14-9 to reach the Atlantic 10 Championship title game.

High Point (7-8) will play in its second Atlantic 10 Finals in three seasons on Saturday against No. 1 Richmond. The game will begin at 12 p.m, and air on ESPN+. Saint Joseph's drops to 9-6.

Luca Accardo was fantastic in the face-off circle, winning 81-percent of the face-offs to give the Panthers constant possession, while scooping 16 groundballs. High Point jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first from four different goal scorers. The Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Ben Dutton kept Saint Joseph's in the game with a first quarter hat-trick to make it a one goal game at the intermission.

The game turned to start the third quarter as High Point took back the momentum with three goals in four minutes to reestablish a four goal lead. Colin Cooke started it before Zack Brenfleck and Ryan Hynes scored from distance to lead 9-5/

Saint Joseph's wouldn't go away, using three straight goals of their own to start the fourth quarter with two more from Dutton to make it a two goal game at 11-9. That was the closest the Hawks would get as the Panthers iced the game with the last three goals and a handful of Zack Overand saves. The netminder had 12 saves in the contest, good for a .571 save percentage. 

Cooke notched a hat-trick for the Panthers while Dutton scored five of the Hawks nine goals in the contest. Justin Wixted of High Point assisted on three goals.
