ORLANDO – Davidson leads the Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championship by one stroke over second-place Rhode Island after the first day of the three-round tournament Tuesday at Evermore Orlando Result.
The Wildcats shot a 285, led by Nate Faulkner’s 69 and a 71 by Davis Sayman. Josh Stewart (72) is in 15
th and Will Davis (73) is in 19
th for Davidson. Faulker is in second place on the leaderboard, one stroke behind leader Carson Baez from Richmond.
Baez shot a 68 with six birdies and nine pars to lead the field. Richmond’s Cole Ekert and Rhode Island’s Sean Magarian tied for third with a 70. Sayman is part of a 10-player tie at fifth, along with Rhody’s Tyler Bruneau and Luke Stennett, Dayton’s Bon Cors and Luke Kahle, George Washington’s Rodrigo Barahona and Manuel Barbachano, Mac McGurn and Braden O’Grady from VCU and Michael Bucko form St. Bonaventure.
Rhode Island has three players in the top five in Magarian, Bruneau ad Stennett to shoot a 286 (-2) for second place. Dayton is in third with a 288 (even), followed by Richmond in fourth with a 289 (+1) and VCU (+2) in fifth, carding a 290. George Washington is in sixth, Loyola Chicago placed seventh and George Mason is in eighth after the first day. Fordham and Saint Joseph’s tied for ninth and St. Bonaventure and La Salle wrapped up the team scoring.
The second round will tee off Wednesday at 7:30 am.
