Richmond, VCU Tie for Preseason Baseball Favorite

WASHINGTON – Richmond and VCU have been tabbed the co-preseason favorites for the 2025 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseballs season, according to the preseason poll conducted by the league’s 12 head coaches and released on Wednesday.
 
Both teams garnered 125 points in the poll with VCU earning four first-place votes and Richmond earning one. The Rams are the defending Atlantic 10 Championship winners after finishing second in the regular season with a 15-8 record and a 38-22 mark overall. The Spiders battled VCU in the 2024 championship final as the four seed, with a 13-11 league record and 27-32 overall.
 
The 2024 regular season champion Saint Louis was picked third in the poll, directly behind Richmond and VCU with 124 points. The Billikens registered five first-place votes in the poll.
 
George Washington (fourth with 104 points) and Davidson (fifth with 80 points) each garnered one first place vote. The Revolutionaries were 13-11 in league play and 31-26 in all games last season while the Wildcats were 24-28 overall and 10-14 in the A-10.
 
Dayton was sixth in the poll with 75 points following a 33-22 season in 2024, placing third in the regular season with a 14-9 record. Rhode Island (19-28; 11-13 A-10 in 2024) placed seventh with 71 points in the poll while Saint Joseph’s (29-26, 13-11 A-10) tallied 66 points for eighth place.
 
George Mason, the 2023 champion was ninth with 58 points, and Massachusetts had 44 points to place 10th. Fordham (35) and St. Bonaventure (29) rounded out the poll.
 
The 2025 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship will be played at the state-of-the-art Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. The seven-team, double elimination tournament begins May 20 and the A-10 will crown its champion on May 24.
