PITTSBURGH – Second seeded Richmond had 12 different players score a goal en route to a 16-5 Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Championship semifinal victory over No. 3 Davidson Friday at Rooney Field.
The defending champion Spiders (12-5) advance to their second straight A-10 title game and 15
th final overall. UR will play top-seed UMass, which won the first semifinal. This will mark the 11
th meeting in the finals between the Minutewomen and Spiders, including 10 of the last 13 championships. UMass holds a 6-4 lead in those games, but Richmond has won the last four, with three of those wins coming in overtime.
The Spiders scored seven of the first eight goals and closed out the game scoring six of the final seven. Charlotte Edwards tallied three goals to lead UR, with Ali Susskind and Colleen Quinn each recording two goals. Grace Muldoon had a pair of assists and a game-high six draw controls, three ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Josie Lambert had two goals to lead Davidson (11-7). Brynn Jones recorded four ground balls and Brooke Ross had three draw controls. Davidson goalkeepers combined for nine saves, while Richmond’s tallied 11 stops.
