Richmond Rolls Into Baseball Championship Final

TYSONS, Va. – Richmond rebounded to earn a rematch with VCU in the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship Final, topping No. 7 Saint Joseph’s 14-5 in the semifinals Friday night at Capital One Park.
The Spiders, who lost to the Rams earlier Friday in the first semifinal, will get a second crack at their cross-town rival in the A-10 final Saturday at noon. Playing from the consolation bracket, UR will need to win two against VCU to claim the conference crown.

Richmond’s bats were active the entire game, as the Spiders put runs up in seven of the nine innings, including eight in the first four. Aiden O’Keefe was 5-for-6 with three RBI and Aaron Whitley had a game-high four RBI on two hits and DJ Pacheco had three RBI.

Kyle Roche earned the win, allowing four runs, two earned on five hits in six innings pitched.
Ryan Cesarini was 2-for-5 with three RBI and Ryan Picollo was 2-for-4 to lead the Hawks

Frank Ciccone took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in 1.1 innings.
