WASHINGTON – Saint Louis won the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title and will serve as the No. 1 seed for next week’s A-10 Baseball Championship at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. The seven-team, double-elimination tournament begins Tuesday, May 21 and will conclude with the championship final on Saturday, May 25, all streamed on ESPN+.
The Billikens finished the 2024 campaign with a 37-14 overall mark along with a 16-8 record in conference competition. SLU receives a bye into the second round and will open championship play against the winner between No. 4 Richmond and fifth-seeded George Washington on Wednesday, May 22, with first pitch slated for 11:00 a.m.
VCU earned the No. 2 overall seed, finishing with a 33-21 record and 15-8 mark in league play. The Rams will see their first action of the championship at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, taking on seventh-seeded Saint Joseph’s in the opening round. The Hawks closed out their year with an 13-11 mark in A-10 competition and 26-24 overall.
Dayton garnered the third overall seed via a 14-9 record in league play and an overall mark of 32-20 and will square off against No. 6 Massachusetts (24-27, 13-11 A-10) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 in the opening round., Richmond, which was 24-30 overall, locked down the No. 4 seed behind a 13-11 record within conference competition, and will battle fifth-seeded George Washington (30-24, 13-11 A-10) at 11:00 a.m. in Tuesday’s championship opener for the right to challenge the top-seeded Billikens in the second round.
Richmond, GW, UMass and Saint Joseph’s all tied for fourth at 13-11. Composite conference records versus common opponents broke the four-way tie, with head-to-head competition finalizing the seeding.
