Saint Joseph’s Wins Men’s Lacrosse Regular Season, Claim Atlantic 10 Championship Top Seed

Richmond, High Point, UMass Also Qualify for 2024 Championship

WASHINGTON — Saint Joseph’s men’s lacrosse captured its second straight Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title and will serve as the No. 1 overall seed for the A-10 Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The championship begins Thursday and concludes Saturday at Garber Field in Amherst, Mass. 
 
Ranked 13th and 16th in both major men’s lacrosse polls, Saint Joseph’s concluded the season with a perfect 5-0 mark in league play and 10-3 overall with two wins over ranked teams. Matt Bohmer leads the Hawks in goals with 32 and  points with 40. The Hawks also won the inaugural A-10 regular season title in 2023.
 
SJU will open the championship against fourth-seeded Massachusetts in the first semifinal, Thursday at 3:00 pm. UMass is led by Mike Tobin and Mason Bregman, each of whom had 22 goals this season. The Minutemen are 6-7 overall and secured the fourth seed with a 2-3 record.
 
Richmond closed out the 2024 campaign at 4-1 in Atlantic 10 competition with an 9-5 mark overall, earning the second seed for the championship. The Spiders, are led by Dalton Young with points (67) and assists (35) and has 32 goals. Luke Grayum leads UR with 33 goals. Richmond will open the championship against No. 3 High Point at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
 
Brayden Mayea leads the Panther offense with 44 goals and 64 points, and Jake VanOverbeke had 62 points with 39 assists. The Panthers wrapped up the year at 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the A-10 and had a win over No. 15 North Carolina.
 
Thursday’s semifinal winners will meet Saturday at 1:00 pm for the A-10 Championship match. The winner of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Men’s Lacrosse Championship will earn the Atlantic 10’s automatic bid and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
