WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Hayden Moore its Men's Baseball Player of the Week. VCU graduate student Owen Tappy was chosen as the league’s Pitcher of the Week and Davidson freshman Cooper Cavanuagh earned Rookie of the Week accolades. The awards were announced Tuesday and are for games played Feb. 12-18.

An outfielder from Edwardsville, Ill., Moore had a great opening weekend for the Billikens starting all three games in the outfield. In 11 at-bats he had 6 hits and scored 7 runs. He also slammed two home runs and recorded a team-high nine RBI. He batted .545 through the Billikens three games, the second-best percentage on the team.

Tappy tossed two scoreless innings to lock up his first career save and VCU's first win of 2024 at No. 13 NC State. In the outing Tappy faced the minimum six batters, throwing just 28 pitches and striking out three batters as the right-hander from Charlotte shut down the top 25 Wolfpack in his Division I debut.

In his college debut Saturday against Morehead State, Cavanaugh started and threw 4.2 innings. A southpaw from Hampstead, N.C., he struck out 9, allowed 2 hits, and walked one batter. He struck out two batters each in the first, second, third and fifth innings. His efforts helped Davidson earn their first win of the season.
