WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 named George Washington senior Connor Rodgers its Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, while his freshman teammate Gage Boushee received Men’s Rookie of the Week accolades. George Washington junior Ava Topolewski collected Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week. Richmond freshman Lena Amare earned Women’s Rookie of the Week. The awards are from competitions from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4 and were announced on Tuesday.
Rodgers, a Carmel, Calif. native, collected wins in the 200-yard fly and the 400-yard IM events in George Washington’s meet against Navy. He won the 200-fly at 1:49.41, which is fourth best in the conference. Rodgers’ 400-IM time of 3:59.23 leads the Atlantic 10 so far this season.
Boushee earned a second-place finish in the 400-IM at 3:59.41. He finished behind GW teammate Rodgers. His 400-IM time is second in the A-10 behind Rodgers. Boushee, a Lakeville, Minn. native, also competed in the 100-free and 200-free events in which he placed in fourth (47.07) and fifth (1:41.49), respectively.
Topolewski swam to three victories in GW’s meet against Navy. She earned wins in the 200-free, 500-free and the 1000-free. Her 200-free time of 1:51.99 and 1000-free time (10:18.15) are second best in the A-10. Topolewski, a Grand Prairie, Texas native, won the 500-free with a time of 5:01.63.
Amare, a Fairhope, Ala. native, competed in two events for Richmond at the Penn and ECU Dual Meet. In the 400-IM, Amare swam to second place finish. Her time of 4:24.01 is second best in the conference. Amare competed in the 200-free and finished in fourth. Her time of 1:53.52 in the event is eighth in the A-10.
