Atlantic 10 Announces Initial Weekly Golf Awards

WASHINGTON – Davidson junior Joshua Stewart and George Washington junior Rodrigo Barahona were named the Atlantic 10 Co-Men’s Golfer of the Week. Dayton senior Jenna Harter was selected as the first-ever A-10 Women’s Golfer of the Week. Duquesne’s freshman Sasha Petrochko earned Women’s Rookie of the Week while St. Bonaventure freshman Dante Bertoni was named Men’s Rookie of the Week.  The awards are for tournaments played in the first two weekends of the fall season.
 
Harter paced the Flyers in both of Dayton's first two events of the season. The Mason, Ohio, native opened the Ball State Brittany Kelly Classic with a career-low round of 69 on the way to a tie for fifth place with a 219 (69-76-74). Harter earned a spot on the BK Classic All-Tournament, helping the Flyers to a fourth-place finish. She also shot a 230 (77-78-75) to tie for 24th in UD’s season opening Kansas State Powercat Invitational.
 
Stewart fired a final round 4-under 68 to capture his first career individual title, while leading the Wildcats to a come-from-behind victory at the River Run Collegiate. The Winter Springs, Fla., Product finished the 36-hole event at 4-under 140 (72-68) to win by three shots over teammate Will Davis.
 
Barahona led the Buff & Blue individually with a 4-under 206, which ties for the fifth-best individual performance in program history. The Monterrey, Mexico, native sandwiched a pair of even-par 70s around his 66 in Monday's second round to finish in a tie for second individually and lead GW to a fourth-place finish
 
Petrochko took home a top 10 finish in her first competition and helped lead Duquesne to an eighth-place finish out of 13 teams at the Bucknell Fall Invitational. A Hermitage, Pa., product opened the tournament with a 76 in the first round and fired even par in the second round at 70, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to finish a round at par. She closed the tournament with a 77 to finish at 223 (+13) and tying for eighth. Registered six birdies throughout the course of the tournament, including three each in the first and second rounds.
 
In just his second collegiate tournament Bertoni was nearly unstoppable in the second round, with birdies in the first two holes of the second round and four consecutive birdies in the final four holes of the front nine in an eye-popping 6-under 30. He got it to 8-under through 13 before ending the day with a sparkling round of 68, the best of the tournament for any of the 23 competitors in the field. An Endicott, N.Y., product, his final total of 147 was good for sixth overall, helping the Bonnies to a first-place finish in the Little Three Championship.
