Dayton, Fordham, Loyola Chicago Garner Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton sophomore Sidike Jabateh its Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Fordham grauate student Carter Abbott was named Defensive Player of the Week. Loyola Chicago freshman Petar Janjic earned Rookie of the Week. honors. The awards, announced Monday, are for games played Oct. 9-15.

Jabateh scored three goals last week including the game-winner at Northern Kentucky before the lone goal for the Flyers in the draw at George Mason. The Liberia, Monrovia, native totaled five shots and put three on goal while logging 125 minutes in the two games last week. Jabateh helped push Dayton's unbeaten streak to six straight games.

Abbott guided the Rams to an undefeated week, as Fordham recorded 1-1 draws against No. 18 Hofstra at home and UMass on the road. The Wauwatosa, Wisc., product, matched a season-high with six saves against the nationally ranked Pride, while only conceding a goal on a penalty kick. The goalie also made three saves in Saturday's draw with UMass in Amherst. 

Janjic scored the second game-winner and fifth overall goal of his freshman campaign in Saturday's 3-1 win over No. 25 SLU. The rookie forward from Elmhurst, Ill., is now tied for Loyola's pacer in goals (5) and game-winning goals (2).
