NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Reigning champion George Washington was tabbed as a unanimous favorite to secure the 2022-23 Atlantic 10 Men’s Swimming & Diving crown, per the league's release of the annual Preseason Poll on Thursday.
The A-10 Preseason Poll is voted on by the league's head coaches.
After claiming their fifth title of the last six years this past season, the Colonials were awarded all eight first-places en route to 64 total points and the top spot in the poll. Under 2022 A-10 Coach of the Year Brian Thomas, GW compiled a dominant performance in the 2021-22 championship, racking up 879.5 points to finish more than 350 points ahead of the runner-up.
George Mason, who clinched second in last season's title meet, locked down second in the poll with 56 points. Massachusetts finished third with 43 points followed by Davidson in fourth (39) and St. Bonaventure at fifth (31).
Fordham and La Salle tied at 23 points apiece for sixth while Saint Louis rounded out the poll with nine points.
The 2022-23 Atlantic 10 Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 15-18 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
