VCU Continues to Lead A-10 Golf Championship, Five Players Tied for First After Second Round

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – VCU held its first-place position as a team at the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship, but a flurry of strong day-two rounds bunched up the race for medalist . There are five players tied for first and four other players within two strokes of the lead following Saturday's second round at Reunion Resort's Watson Course.
 
The 54-hole championship concludes Sunday with tee times beginning at 7:30 am on the Watson Course. The winner of the championship will advance to NCAA Regionals.
 
VCU repeated its score of a four-under 284 from the first round for a two-day total of 568 (-8). Davidson also copied its day one score, posting a 286 to improve to second place with a 572 (-4). George Washington surged Saturday, improving by 11 strokes with a 282 to tie for third with a 575 (-1). Rhode Island shot a 290 for a two-day total of 575, tying GW at one under.
 
VCU's Adrian Vagberg, Davidson's Will Davis and Rhody's Austin Fox, George Mason's J.P. Miller and Fordham's P.J. O'Rourke are all tied for first with three-under 141s. Miller, Davis, Vagberg and Fox all improved on their round one scores on Saturday. Miller's 68 tied for the low round of the day with George Washington's Arav Patel, who placed tied for 10th overall with a 144.
 
GW's Hugh Riboud, and VCU's Joe Retford and Kristian Tannum Donaldson are all tied for sixth, just one stroke behind the leaders with a 142 (-2). Rhody's Bryson Richards is two strokes off the lead with a two-day total of 143 (-1). Tannum Donaldson was the Round 1 leader and still hold the low round of the tournament with a day-on 67.
 
Mikkel Antonsen and Charlie Kennedy each carded a 147 to complete VCU's scoring. Davidson also had Alex Heffner and Viraj Garewal, each with a 144 to tie for tenth, and Clayton Tribus and Ethan Hall with a 145 and 146 respectively.
 
There have been three Eagles over the two days and O'Rourke and Antonsen lead the field with 11 and 10 birdies respectively. Kennedy has tallied a tournament-high 29 pars in 36 holes played.
