NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 named St. Bonaventure's Maxwell Murray as the league's Men’s Performer of the Week while Ali Tyler of George Mason earned recognition as Women’s Performer of the Week. Rookie of the Week awards went out to Tate Anderson of George Mason on the men's side and Ava Topolewski of George Washington for the women. The honors were given out following performances at meets between Oct. 6-11.
Murray, a junior, earned at trio of individual event victories at the Colgate Invitational. The Penfield, N.Y., native, won the 1,650-freestyle in 16:39.49 and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.17, helping elevate the Bonnies to a first-place finish at the meet.
Anderson, a freshman out of Fuguay-Varina, N.C., captured three individual titles in the Patriots 159-139 dual win over Towson. He placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.37), the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.17) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.16).
A sophomore out of Cheshire, Conn., Tyler had two individual event victories as well as a relay win in a dual meet win over Towson. She clocked in at 23.24 for the 50-yard freestyle, 51.29 in the 100-yard freestyle and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team that scored a gold medal via a 1:43.50 mark.
Topolewski, who hails from Grand Prairie, Texas, finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:13.44) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.35) as the Colonials recorded top finishes in 22 of the 32 event, knocking of Old Dominion and James Madison in a tri-meet.
