Levins Named A-10 Baseball Player of the Week; Wyatt Earns Pitcher, Callahan Take Rookie Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named La Salle junior Tatem Levins as A-10 Baseball Player of the Week, while Richmond graduate student Colby Wyatt earned Pitcher of the Week honors. Saint Joseph's freshman Brett Callahan was selected as the league's Rookie of the Week The awards, presented by BioSteel, were announced Monday and are for games played May 10-16.
 
Levins hit .538 to lead the Explorers to a 3-1 series win at Fordham over the weekend. The catcher  from Langhorne, Pa., posted a .611 on-base percentage and a .846 slugging percentage to go with six runs, four RBI, three walks, a home run and a double. Levins started the weekend by reaching base in all six of his plate appearances, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two walks and a homer in Friday’s win over the Rams. The reigning A-10 Player of the Week then had another perfect day at the plate in Sunday’s win, going 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI as La Salle broke the school record for wins (32).
 
A righty from Glendale, Ariz., Wyatt threw his third complete game of the season on Saturday, getting a shutout win over George Washington. He allowed just two hits while striking out six in seven scoreless innings. He faced one over the minimum in the first three innings and got out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth, getting his second strikeout of the day to end the threat. Wyatt closed the game strong, striking out three over the final two innings.
 
Callahan, and outfielder from Newark, Del., amassed a .562 average this week, hitting safely in all four games as the Hawks split at Rhode Island. He was 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and three runs scored as SJU claimed the series opener, 6-5. He then went 4-for-8 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI in Saturday's doubleheader before finishing the weekend with a 2-for-4 performance as the Hawks won the series finale.
