NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Dayton senior Hayden Zimmerer has been named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, while George Mason freshman Nikita Gubenko took Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Friday for tournaments played Feb. 19-24.

Zimmerer, a Louisville, Ky., product, opened the spring season with an eleventh place finish at the inaugural Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate Feb. 22-23. He carded rounds of 74-72-73 to finish at three-over-par (219) to lead the Flyers, who finished in ninth place out of a field of 16. 

Gubenko led the Patriots at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor last weekend. The team finished tied for 15th with Ohio University. The Great Falls, Va., native, finished 17th overall (220) in the field of 87 golfers, highlighted with a three-under-par 69 in the second round on the par 72, 7,084-yard Savannah Club course. He finished the tournament with five birdies  on the back nine 33(-3).
