PITTSBURGH – Guided by a strong performance from A-10 Player of the Year Jamie Peterson, top-seeded Dayton defeated Fordham, powering past the Rams via a straight-sets sweep en route to the program's third consecutive league title Sunday afternoon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

With the victory, Dayton (25-5) captured the program's third straight as well as 15th overall Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship. Additionally, the Flyers cemented the A-10 automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, discovering their official seeding next Sunday, Nov. 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET via the selection show on ESPNU.

Bolstered by yet-another notable offensive showcase by Peterson, who finished with seven digs, five blocks and a match-best 15 kills, the Flyers initially held off an upstart Fordham attack across an extended first set, 27-25, before overwhelming the Rams down the stretch in the second (25-13) and third (25-18) frames.

Statistically, Peterson along with fellow redshirt senior Amelia Moore posted the only two double-digit kill outings of the contest, logging 15 and 10, respectively, for the Flyers. Additionally, redshirt freshman Alayna Yates impressed as well with eight kills and seven blocks while A-10 Setter of the Year Livie Sandt composed an elite performance via match-high for boht assists (35) and digs (13).

For the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team, Peterson and Yates were joined by UD teammate Lexie Almodovar, Fordham juniors Megan Brzozowski and Mallory Lipski, Duquense senior Summer Slade and Saint Louis senior Maya Taylor. Peterson, who closed out the two-match stretch with 39 kills, 25 digs and nine blocks, earned recognition as the A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player.
