NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton senior Blake Solomon along with Davidson sophomore Alex Heffner were tabbed as the Atlantic 10 Co-Golfers of the Week while Davidson freshman teammate Will Davis and VCU freshman Charlie Kennedy claimed recognition as Co-Rookies of the Week. The awards were for tournaments played Oct. 15-28.
Solomon, a product of Dublin, Ohio, captured runner-up honors at Dayton's annual Flyer Invitational Oct. 18-19, finishing just one stroke behind the medalist out of a field of 69 competitors. Overall, he fired rounds of 71, 69 and 70 to finish at three under par for the tournament while notably carding 41 parred holes, tied for first among the field of players.
Heffner capped the 2021 fall campaign with a second-place individual finish at the Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. After opening with a 71, the Harrisburg, N.C. native posted an 11-under-par across his final 36 holes with rounds of 66 and 67 en route to helping the Wildcats clinch the team title.
Davis, who hails from Jacksonville, Fla., managed to secure a t-15th showing at the Grandover Collegiate. The freshman closed out the 54-hole event just 1-over-par, shooting a total 217 with two rounds of par or better.
In a virtually identical performance, Kennedy also put together a t-15th outing at the Grandover Collegiate, logging a 1-over-par for the tournament. Notably, the Richmond, Va. product also shot two rounds of par or better as he registered a 74-72-71 overall.
