NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Massachusetts senior Sam Breen as A-10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Dayton freshman Makira Cook was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Dec. 28 – Jan. 3.
 
Breen recorded her third straight double-double with game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds in the Minutewomen’s win at La Salle. The forward from Gibsonia, Pa., played the entire 40 minutes, contributing four steals and three assists, while shooting 47.4 percent from the floor and 75.0 percent at the line.
 
Cook had a career-night with 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while going 3-of-4 (.750) from three in the win over St. Bonaventure Friday. A guard from Hamilton, Ohio, Cook averaged 11.0 points on the week and shot 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the floor while coming off the bench in both games.

Cameron Tabor scored 20 points off the bench for Davidson across two games while also dishing out three assists and grabbing nine rebounds to help the 'Cats stay undefeated in A-10 play … Dayton’s Erin Whalen had 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists while shooting 60.0 percent (3-of-5) from three in the Flyers’ win over Duquesne … Duquesne freshman Megan McConnell had 15 points on 5-of-9 (.556) shooting along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals against Dayton … Kaitlyn Downey grabbed a whopping 18 rebounds to secure a double-double with 10 points in Fordham’s nationally televised win over George Washington … George Mason’s Marika Korpinen averaged 15.5 points in two games, including a 21-point, five-rebound performance at Davidson … Claire Jacobs averaged 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games for La Salle, notching a 26-point game at Coppin State … Emmanuelle Tahane had a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double, including shooting 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the field in Rhode Island’s win at La Salle.
