La Salle's Shupp Selected as A-10 Softball Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- La Salle senior Courtney Shupp was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Dayton senior Jessica Weaver earned Pitcher of the Week honors, while George Mason’s Rachel Warrens took Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played from Feb. 24-Mar. 1. 

In four games, Shupp hit .462 on six hits in 13 at-bats. Shupp launched a pair of homeruns, including a grand slam. She drove in eight runs and scored three times. The Northampton, Pa., native had a .923 slugging percentage.

Weaver, from Lebanon, Ind., posted a win and a save in the circle for Dayton over the weekend, posting a 0.95 ERA over 14.2 innings of work. In Friday's 5-0 win over Oakland, she tossed the final two scoreless innings to combine for the shutout and earn the save. In her start Saturday against Appalachian State, Weaver posted a complete-game shutout win with five strikeouts to zero walks. On Sunday, she worked 5.2 innings against UNCG allowing two runs and tallying two strikeouts.

Warrens, a San Diego, Calif., product, had three runs and six RBI’s in a 2-2 week for the Patriots. On Saturday, against Lafayette, Warrens registered one run and all six of her RBI’s with four at bats.
