NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Richmond senior Jaide Hinds-Clarke was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Saint Louis Freshman Rachel Kent earned Rookie of the Week Honors. The Awards are for games played February 17-23.
Hinds-Clarke had an outstanding week to help Richmond go 2-0 on the road, averaging 21.5 points per game and on 17-for-22 (.773) from the field. The forward from Westwood, N.J., only missed five shots on the week, including 5-for-6 from the three-point line (.833). Hinds-Clarke tied her career high with 21 points and seven rebounds in a win at George Mason. She backed up that performance with a new career-high 22 points at St. Bonaventure and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds for her 14th career double-double. She also averaged 9.5 rebounds per game on the week.
Kent recorded her first career double-double in a win against Fordham and hit five 3-pointers at VCU for the Billikens last week. She averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds on the week, while shooting 64 percent (7-for-11) from deep. The Des Plaines, Ill., product began the week collecting 15 points and a career-best 14 rebounds for her first double-double. At VCU, she drained 5-of-6 3-pointers on her way to 17 points, along with three assists, two rebounds, one block and one steal.
