George Washington WIns A-10 Women's Swimming Crown For First Time in School History

GENEVA, Oh.- George Washington won its first Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute with a total of 608 points.

The Colonials were led by Andre Moussier's first place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:49.75. Gemma Atherly took second place in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 1:57.93. Stine Petersen finished the 200-yard breaststroke in third place with a time of 2:13.11.

Fordham finished second with 534 points. The Rams were led by the 2020 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer, Mia Bullock, in the 400-yard freestyle relay, joined by Michelle Martin, Clare Culver, and Theresa Mullen. The relay team took first place with a time of 3:21.10. Bullock claimed first and the conference record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.60. 

Richmond's Maggie Purcell won the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 2:12.84. Hannah Gouger placed first in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:55.84.

Hanna Everhart of Duquesne finished first in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.32. 

Davidson head coach John Young won 2020 Atlantic 10 Women's Coach of the Year, while Wildcat freshman Shelby Stanley was named Most Outstanding Rookie. 

Maja Boric of Massachusetts was awarded 2020 A-10 Most Outstanding Diver, while her coach Mandy Hixon won Diving Coach of the Year. 

Duquesne came in third with 525 points, followed by Richmond with 453.5. Davidson (417) claimed fifth, while St. Bonaventure took sixth at 281.5. Massachusetts (254), George Mason (219), and La Salle (196) finished seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively, while Saint Louis and Rhode Island capped off the team finishes.
