George Washington Women and George Mason Men Add To Their Leads After Day 3

GENEVA, Oh.- The George Washington Colonials maintained their large lead in the women’s standings at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships, despite a strong day from Fordham and Duquesne, while the George Mason Patriots have taken a commanding lead on the men’s side.
 
The Colonials, who have led on the women’s side since day one, now have a lead of 424 points, followed by Duquesne at 390. Fordham currently holds third place at 374, followed by Richmond (318.5), Davidson (303), St. Bonaventure (202.5), Massachusetts (175), George Mason (163), La Salle (135), Saint Louis (99), and Rhode Island (62). 
 
Leading the way for GW was Gemma Atherley who took second place in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:48.51 and Jackie Torrez who placed third in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:17.43. 
 
Fordham swept the 100-yard butterfly, led by Mia Bullock, who set the conference record at 53.03, followed by Michelle Martin (53.96), and Hannah McGee (54.50). Bullock, Martin, and McGee were joined by teammate Theresa Mullen to also tie the conference record in the 400-yard medley relay at 3:40.20. 
 
After tying the conference record in the 100-yard breaststroke during the preliminaries, George Mason’s Jacquee Clabeaux carved her name in the record book with a time of 1:00.31. 
 
Davidson’s Sarah Helen Shepherd took first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:14.81. Hanna Everhart finished first in the 200-yard freestyle for Duquesne, clocking a time of 1:48.10, while Hannah Gouger of Richmond claimed first place in the 100-yard back after touching the wall in 53.75.
 
Maja Boric of Massachusetts won the 3-meter dive with a score of 335.10, sweeping both diving events after placing first in the 1-meter dive on Wednesday. 
 
Mason built upon their lead on the men’s side, currently standing at 426 points, with George Washington trailing with 391. St. Bonaventure is in third place with 350.5, followed by La Salle (292.5), Davidson (268), Massachusetts (220.5), Saint Louis (203), and Fordham (165.5). 
 
Freshman Luke Devore led the charge for the Patriots, taking first place in the 100-yard butterfly at 47.82. Logan Eubanks took first in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 46.65, while Jake Ball placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 54.33. 
 
George Kalletta clocked a time of 3:49.04 in the 400-yard IM to take first for St. Bonaventure, while Tjaard Krusch finished in second place in the 100-yard backstroke for the Bonnies at 47.79. St. Bonaventure’s 400-yard medley relay team also took first place with a time of 3:14.54. 
 
Moritz Fath and George Aspougalis claimed a pair of first place finishes for the Colonials in the 200-yard freestyle (1:35.92) and the 100-yard breaststroke (53.79), respectively. 
 
The championship resumes tomorrow morning with the preliminary events beginning at 10 am followed by the finals starting at 6:30 pm.
