AMHERST, Mass. – The third-seeded George Washington Colonials took game two of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship with a 4-3 win over No. 6 Saint Louis at the Sortino Field on Wednesday.
With the win, George Washington advances to face second-seeded Massachusetts on Thursday at 1:30 pm.
Jessica Linquist scored first for the Colonials in the first inning, batted in by Priscilla Martinez. A-10 Player of the Year Jenna Cone then hit a three-run home run in the second to put George Washington up 4-1 after a Billiken run from Mackenzie Lawson in the top of the inning.
Sadie Wise responded with her own two-run home run in the next inning to bring SLU within one, but the Billikens couldn’t pull another run by the end of the seventh.
Cone led the Colonials with a run and three RBI, while Linquist added two runs.
Wise Led the Billikens with one run and three RBI, while First Team All-Conference outfielder had the third run for the Billikens.
With the loss, Saint Louis will play in the third game of the day at 4:00 pm against the fourth-seeded Dayton Flyers, who fell to No. 5 Saint Joseph’s in game one.
