ST. LOUIS—Fifth-seeded Fordham men’s soccer scored a late goal to slip past No. 4 Saint Louis, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in the Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship Quarterfinals.
The Rams (7-10-2) advance to the A-10 semifinals, which they will host Friday at Jack Coffey Field to play the winner between No. 1 Rhode Island and No. 8 Davidson.
Filippo Ricupati took advantage of a turnover deep in Saint Louis territory in the 87
th minute, beating the Billiken keeper inside the near post. The goal turned the tone of a game that appeared headed for overtime.
Both teams had multiple chances to score throughout the game, including a penalty kick opportunity for each team that went wide. SLU tallied 14 shots and 13 corner kicks, while Fordham took seven shots and had two corners.
Fordham keeper Konstantin Weis made six saves, while Patrick Schulte stopped two shots.
