WASHINGTON – Richmond topped Duquesne 11-9 Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
UR advances to Sunday’s championship game where it will face top-seeded UMass at Noon.
Richmond’s Brooke Wilson came off the bench to score a hat trick for the Spiders, while Anna Jeszeck and Charlotte Stevenson each had a pair of goals for UR, while Jeszeck dished out a pair of assists.
Lib Lowry tallied a hat trick for Duquesne and Clare Hurley and Tess Drotar scored twice for the Dukes.
The teams traded goals early, with Duquesne a 3-2 lead on a Hurely goal with 13:50 to play in the half.
A Jeszeck strike with 9:30 to play sparked what proved to be a 3-0 run for the Spiders to close the half and send UR to the intermission up 5-3.
Richmond went on a 6-2 run to start the second half, taking an 11-6 lead just over 10 minutes to go in the game.
Duquesne scored three goals to cut the lead to 11-9, but that was a close as it would get as Richmond held possession to secure the win.
