Malott, Hoover, Cloud Selected in 2015 WNBA Draft

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Dayton's Ally Malott was selected eighth in the 2015 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics Thursday evening, while Saint Joseph's Natasha Cloud was taken 15th by the Mystics and Malott's teammate Andrea Hoover was picked 31st by the LA Sparks.

A Senior CLASS Award candidate this year, Malott surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career with her 20-point performance against Iowa on Nov. 22. She was a 2015 A-10 All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Teams selection for the second-consecutive year. She also earned a spot on the 2015 A-10 All-Championship Team. During her senior year, she set a new career high with 30 points on 13-of-16 shooting against Saint Louis Jan. 31.

Malott and Hoover led the Flyers on a run to the 2015 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight and challenged eventual national champion UConn, leading the Huskies at halftime before UConn's second-half surge won the game.

Cloud joins Debbie Black '88 and Jana Lichnerova '00 as the only Saint Joseph's players to be drafted by a WNBA team. Black was selected 15th overall by Utah in the 1999 WNBA Draft, while Lichnerova was picked by Minnesota with the 54th overall pick in the 2000 WNBA Draft.

Among the top players in Hawk history, Cloud capped her three-year career having led SJU to two NCAA Tournament Appearances (2013, 2014), a pair of Philadelphia Big 5 titles (2014, 2015) and the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship. Coming to Hawk Hill after playing at Maryland as a rookie, the 6-foot-guard etched her name in Saint Joseph's record books numerous times as she finished third all-time in assists (582), ninth in steals (174), 16th in rebounds (535) and 20th in points (1,049).

The 2014 A-10 Player of the Year, Hoover was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First and Academic Teams for the third consecutive season in 2015, was twice named to the Naismith Trophy early-season 50-player watch list, was one of 30 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award and was honored with the Charles R. Hendall Memorial Award at the annual OASSA Scholar-Athlete Awards Reception - recognizes an individual student-athlete who has demonstrated achievement in academic and athletic effort.
