DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will depart the Cronin Athletic Center this afternoon on its way to the program's first appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16®. The seventh-seeded Flyers are set to square off against the third-seeded Cardinals of Louisville on Saturday, March 28. UD and UofL will be playing in the second game of the session and tip time is set for approximately 2:30 p.m. at Times Union Center. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN.
About the Flyers
Dayton (27-6) outlasted 11th-ranked Kentucky, 99-94, in a NCAA Tournament Second Round shoot-out on March 22 advancing the Flyers to the program's first Regional Semifinal appearance. UD has won 10 of its last 11 games after closing out the regular season with a six-game winning streak and picking up two wins in both the Atlantic 10 Championship and the NCAA Tournament. The Flyers are led by senior Andrea Hoover with 17.3 ppg. and 3.1 apg. while senior Ally Malott is the team's leading rebounder with 7.9 rpg.
Scouting Louisville
No. 8/8 Louisville (27-6) is making its third-consecutive and sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16® in 2015 after defeating South Florida, 60-52, on March 23. The most recent loss for the Cardinals came on March 7 in the ACC Tournament semifinals as Florida State came away with the 66-51 win. UofL has three players that average double-figures scoring, led by Mariya Moore with 13.5 ppg. Shawntá Dyer grabs 5.6 rpg. and Jude Schimmel dishes out 3.6 apg. for the Cards.
