Alex Lehmbeck serves as Director of Communications for the Atlantic 10 Conference, where he is the primary communications contact for women’s basketball and several other selected sports. In this role, he manages media relations efforts, collaborates with member institution communications staffs and regional and national media outlets, and helps promote one of the nation’s premier basketball-centric conferences.
Lehmbeck joined the Atlantic 10 in August 2025 following three years at Norfolk State University, where he advanced through multiple roles, earning two promotions before becoming Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Communications. During his time with the Spartans, he oversaw communications efforts for football and men’s and women’s basketball, led media relations efforts for NCAA Tournament appearances and nationally televised events, and developed strategies that increased visibility for the department. He also directed the communications efforts surrounding the hiring of former NFL star Michael Vick as head football coach, generating significant national attention.
An award-winning writer and storyteller, Lehmbeck earned three College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest District 3 honors, including a district title in General Feature/Blog Writing in 2025. A native of Charlottesville, Va., he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Communications and Political Science and a minor in Sociology.
