WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in men’s soccer. The awards are for games played from September 21-27.
Offensive Player of the Week: Bruno Cellerino (So., Milan, Italy), Fordham
Defensive Player of the Week: Luke Adams (Jr., McKinney, Texas), Saint Louis
Rookie of the Week: Lucas Webb (Fr., St. Louis, Mo.), Loyola Chicago
Bruno Cellerino pushed Fordham to a second consecutive victory to open conference play, scoring both goals to down VCU 2-1 on the road. The sophomore from Milan struck early with a lofty shot from a difficult angle to put the Rams in front, before giving Fordham a 2-0 advantage on a steal-and-score.
Luke Adams anchored the Billiken back line in a dominant defensive performance on Saturday, earning Saint Louis a 1-0 win over Duquesne. The Dukes mustered only three total shots for the afternoon, two on goal. Adams also contributed on the offensive end for good measure, scoring the match’s lone goal in the 13
th minute.
Lucas Webb recorded the first goal of his collegiate career for Loyola Chicago on Saturday, and it came when the Ramblers needed it most. With Loyola trailing in the final moments of a conference match against George Washington, Webb scored off a corner kick with just 16 seconds remaining to secure a 1-1 draw.
