WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named George Washington graduate student Luke Hunger the Under Armour Men's Basketball Player of the Week. VCU freshman Nyk Lewis was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 9-15.

Hunger averaged 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assist per game while shooting 68 percent from the field, 80 percent from 3-point range and 82.4 percent from the free throw line. He reset his career-high in points in both games and has now done so in three straight contests. A forward from Montral, Quebec, he scored 21 points in Tuesday's win over Rhode Island, making 7-of-11 field goals, 6-of-8 free throws and tallying six rebounds, five of which came on the offensive glass. Hunger also added two assists and a steal in the five-point win. He upped his game to new heights on Friday versus George Mason, scoring 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting including a perfect 3-of-3 from 3 and went 8-of-9 from the stripe. He added 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year. Hunger's 31 points were the most for a GW player since James Bishop IV's 34 nearly two years ago.

Lewis averaged 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting .583 (7-of-12) from the field and 3-of-7 from 3-point range in a pair of road wins.  A guard from Washington, D.C., he recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds (plus four assists) in a victory Wednesday over La Salle. He then added 10 points and four boards in a victory over rival Richmond on Saturday. This marks Lewis’ fourth A-10 Rookie of the Week accolade this season.
