WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced its weekly honors in men’s soccer. The awards are for games played from October 26 – November 1.
Offensive Player of the Week: Kyrese Lynch-Bailey (Sr., Brampton, Ontario), La Salle
Defensive Player of the Week: Angel Hernandez (So., Madrid, Spain), George Mason
Rookie of the Week: Rayane Tchemmoun (Fr., Montreal, Quebec), Fordham
Kyrese Lynch-Bailey elevated his game when La Salle needed it most, leading the Explorers to a 3-0 victory over A10 Regular Season Champion Duquesne. Lynch-Bailey scored two goals, including the game-winner, to punch La Salle’s ticket to the A10 Men’s Soccer Tournament. La Salle earned the No. 8 seed and will face top-seeded Duquesne in a rematch on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
Angel Hernandez recorded a clean sheet in George Mason’s regular season finale, helping the Patriots secure a 1-0 victory against VCU on Saturday. The sophomore goalkeeper made four saves to keep the Rams off the board, clinching a spot in the A10 Men’s Soccer Tournament field while eliminating VCU from postseason contention. As the No. 3 seed, George Mason will host No. 6 seed Fordham on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
Rayane Tchemmoun could not be stopped on Saturday against Saint Joseph’s, helping Fordham take down the Hawks, 5-1. The freshman midfielder dominated offensively, scoring two goals and dishing two assists. The six-point outing marked the most by an A10 player this season.
